What an eSIM actually is
An eSIM replaces the removable chip with a digital profile stored in secure phone hardware. Your phone number, calls, texts and data still depend on the plan you buy.
The word eSIM does not guarantee a Moroccan number or unlimited data. Local operator plans and international travel plans serve different needs.
How eSIM works in Morocco
Maroc Telecom, Orange Morocco and inwi provide eSIM routes. Terms vary for a new line, conversion from a physical SIM and visitor offers.
Most international travel eSIMs are data-only and connect through roaming. Check the partner network, hotspot policy and when the plan starts.
Checks to make before buying
- Look for an EID in settings or by dialling *#06#.
- Check the exact model number and country of purchase.
- Confirm that the phone is carrier-unlocked.
- Check whether the plan includes a +212 number, calls or only data.
Choose the right type of plan
- Decide whether you need a Moroccan line, a second number or travel internet.
- Compare duration, high-speed data, calls and recharge rules.
- Keep the QR code private and install over reliable Wi-Fi.
